Crackle Paint Picture Frames

I’ve seen the crackle paint a lot on the internet and I decided to try it out on some frames.

I used this tutorial  http://makethebestofthings.blogspot.com/2010/05/crackle-finish-with-elmers-glue.html.

It’s very very easy to do. First paint the color that you will see through the cracks. Let it completely dry. Then coat evenly and entirely with Elmers glue. Now, there are a few options here. If you immediately apply the top coat of paint the cracks will be very small and it will look the most like distressed wood. (As seen on the frame with teal cracks and black top coat.) If you wait for the Elmers glue to try a few minutes then apply the top coat of paint the cracks will be large and not as detailed. (As seen on the frame with black cracks with teal top coat.) It’s a very cool technique to add character to any frame.
